Clontarf Meanderings

It isn't proven as yet but it appears that we may have brought the Aussie weather with us. Blue sky brightness provided the beautiful backdrop to a leisurely morning stroll.

I'd spotted an old gated graveyard with church ruins just around the corner from where we were staying and I was eager to explore the cemetery and discover some more Irish history.

Chatting to one of the groundsmen he pointed out the grave of Maureen Potter. "Google her - she was a famous Irish comedienne." And that she was.

The nearby Clontarf Castle with its gatehouse beckoned.

Having been restored only in relatively recent years its an odd mixture of architectural styles but still more impressive than Ballarat's Kryal Castle, I know...this is a shocking but true fact.
